Why convert PNG to JPG?
JPG files are typically much smaller than PNG, making them better for sharing, uploading to websites, or sending in email. A PNG photo might be 5–10 MB; the same image as JPG at high quality is often under 1 MB. JPG works well for photos; PNG is better for graphics with text, logos, or transparency. If your PNG is a photograph (not a graphic), converting to JPG is a great way to shrink file size without a visible quality loss.

Frequently Asked Questions
It depends on the image content, but for photographs you can typically expect JPG to be 5–10× smaller than PNG. A 10 MB photo PNG might become a 1–2 MB JPG at high quality. Screenshots and graphics with flat colours compress differently and may not shrink as dramatically.
Yes — JPG doesn't support transparency. Any transparent areas in your PNG will be filled with white in the converted JPG. If you need to preserve transparency, don't convert to JPG; keep your file as PNG or use a format like WEBP that supports transparency.
No. SwapHEIC uses the browser's built-in Canvas API to convert images entirely on your device. Nothing is sent to a server. You can disconnect from the internet after the page loads and it will still work.
Not ideal. JPG's compression works by blurring fine details slightly, which is invisible in photos but very noticeable in screenshots — text and sharp edges can look blurry or develop colour fringing. For screenshots, PNG is almost always the better choice. Use this tool for photographs, not interface captures.
